Raoul Peck’s “Orwell: 2+2=5” Debuts at Cannes

Franco-Haitian filmmaker and director Raoul Peck has just released his latest biopic titled Orwell: 2+2=5. It is a documentary film in which Peck revisits the life and work of George Orwell, author of 1984 and Animal Farm. The film will premiere at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held in France from May 13 to 24.

"The Haitian filmmaker returns with a documentary about the figure of George Orwell, recounting not only his life, his destiny, and his too-brief existence but also the strength and relevance of his ideas and his warnings about what societies could become if we are not vigilant," said Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Cannes Festival, during the launch press conference. "It was in the 1930s and 1940s; we did not pay much attention then, and today we are not far off — that is the thesis of the film," he
