Poet Anthony Phelps Has Passed Away

The literary world is in mourning. Anthony Phelps, renowned poet, novelist, and storyteller, passed away during the night of Monday, March 10, to Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Montreal. He was 96 years old.

Born on August 25, 1928, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Anthony Phelps left an indelible mark on generations through his prolific and socially engaged work. Among his most emblematic texts is Mon pays que voici, published in 1968 and widely circulated throughout his homeland.
