Antoine Simon International Airport Inaugurated in Les Cayes

Leslie Voltaire, President of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT), accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Transport, and Communications (TPTC), the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Culture and Communication, and other officials, officially launched the upgraded Antoine Simon International Airport in Les Cayes on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.With this upgrade, the airport moves from Category 2B to 3B, allowing it to accommodate aircraft carrying up to 80 passengers and receive international flights, according to officials. However, on March 5, no flights from other countries landed at the Les Cayes Airport.

Following the inauguration of the International Port of the South on Friday, January 17, 2025, the Antoine Simon Airport is now the latest infrastructure to undergo a status change. In just 10 days, the company Vorbe & Fils extended the runway from 1,500 meters to 1,850 meters.
