CPT and Prime Minister’s Office: Moving Along in Tranquil Waters

After the dismissal of Garry Conille and his government, the Presidential Council (CPT) adopted a low profile. The presidential advisors and the new head of government appear to be in perfect harmony. Currently, the CPT's primary short-term objective is to complete the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). Meanwhile, Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas continue to spiral deeper into chaos.

Previously, members of the CPT had criticized former Prime Minister Garry Conille for seeking too much visibility. Today, neither the Presidential Council nor the Prime Minister’s Office seem eager to step into the spotlight. “There is now greater harmony between the Presidential Council and the Prime Minister’s Office. The new Prime Minister has brought much better cohesion between the two branches of the executive. I hope it lasts,” a presidential advisor told Le Nouvelliste.
